Modeling Automated Vehicle Guidance

Recently, DISTek completed a project to integrate a test system into the loop with automated vehicle guidance control systems on production ECU hardware in a laboratory environment.

This was done as an alternative to costly field testing, with the additional long term goal of developing an architecture that could be expanded to additional vehicle types.

The customizable, flexible, and highly modular solution that DISTek developed features deterministic control and immense processing power and was rapidly deployed at a low hardware cost.

Some of the test parameters that had to be considered were:

  • Vehicle dynamics
  • Tire roll stiffness
  • Side slip angles
  • Yaw rate
  • Lateral velocity
  • Terrain properties
  • Soil properties
