We all have our own personal or family traditions surrounding the holidays. For many, traditions help us connect not only with ourselves, but also with others. Have you ever taken a moment to consider the why behind your annual traditions?
For more than 10 years, DISTek Integration has partnered with elementary schools in Cedar Falls, Iowa, who pair our DISTek family with a local family in need of assistance around the holidays. This year, DISTek adopted TWO families! The school then provides us with each families, “wish lists” of items and essential needs to help alleviate the financial burden that comes with the holiday season.
While the Adopt-a-Family project is based out of DISTek’s Cedar Falls, Iowa, location, that does not halt our entire employee-base from stepping up. As a company, this year we were able to raise well over $1,000 for the two families and gift them with not only the essentials, but furthermore, the feel-good items that bring a smile to each of their faces when ripping through that festive wrapping paper. As you can see from the pictures, our DISTek elves sure love to wrap!
When I take a moment to reflect on this DISTek tradition, I feel such deep admiration of how this commitment to our community has evolved and been passed to new generations entering the DISTek family (including myself). Holiday traditions are all about continuing their legacy of intent, while provoking a sense of connectedness with those who are involved. This is DISTek’s why behind our Adopt-a-Family tradition and I cannot wait to see it live on.
