International VDI Conference: Thoughts from Jim

In April of this year, I had the opportunity to attend an international conference in Dusseldorf, Germany; well, to be more accurate, I attended three (3) conferences in Dusseldorf, Germany: Connected Off-Highway Machines (On the Road towards Autonomous Mobile Machinery); Smart Farming; and Autonomous Trucks.

International VDI Conference: Thoughts from Korey

In April, DISTek sent me to Dusseldorf, Germany where I attended the 3rd International VDI Conference for Connected Off-highway Machines. This 2-day conference was a great opportunity since there were two additional conferences running in parallel. The fine folks at VDI allowed access to any of the three conference events with admission to any single event, so not only did I have access to the speakers and round table discussions at the Connected Off-Highway Machines Conference, but also the Autonomous Trucks Conference and the Smart Farming Conference. Overall, it was a great experience that provided a glimpse into what the future holds for autonomous machinery.

Where in the World is DISTek Integration?

DISTek is on the move again after what may seem like a quiet few months since AGRITECHNICA. Of course we have been busy internally, and we did visit the Indiana-Illinois Farm and Outdoor Power Equipment Show and the Iowa Power Farming Show back in December. But our heavier show-season is getting ready to kick off in earnest starting with…

Hello Sin City: CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks around the office. We’re moving what feels like a thousand miles a minute as we put the final touches on our presentation for CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017. Yes, you read that right, the DISTek crew is headed to Las Vegas next week for THE international construction industry show. This year’s show is running March 7 – 11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Road Trip to Louisville: Agricultural Equipment Technology Conference

DISTek will be taking over Louisville, Kentucky next week. We have plans to host a supplier technology display at the Agricultural Equipment Technology Conference (AETC) hosted by ASABE (American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers). The AETC is a three day event held at the Seelbach Hilton that kicks off on Monday, February 13th and concludes on Wednesday, February 15th. The AETC provides a forum for engineering professionals working for, or with, equipment manufacturers and those developing new standards the opportunity to come together to celebrate and grow engineering skills.

2016: A Year in Review

Here at DISTek we just competed our 24th full calendar year as a company, which means our 25th anniversary happens in 2017. We are excited to think about our future as we pass this milestone, but it is also healthy to step back and review what we did in 2016. We took some bumps and bruises along the way – as did many in the industries we serve – but we also had some exciting successes.

MINExpo 2016: The Age of Autonomy

As the summer ended and fall began, we made our way to Las Vegas to attend MINExpo International on September 26th – 28th. There were no signs of fall whether approaching in Sin City, but that was okay because all of the action was inside the {air conditioned} Las Vegas Convention Center. While the convention center is very large it was busting at the seams with 50 foot tall haul trucks with the ability to haul payloads over 400 tons!

DISTek to Present at SAE COMVEC

Ever design a system, and then see a human operator lock it up by behaving in a manner you never imagined they would? If yes, your system is vulnerable to Off-Nominal Behaviors (ONBs). ONBs are behaviors invoked upon a system (often, by unpredictable human operators) that were unaccounted for by the system’s designers because of their human tendency to assume that operators will use the system in a nominal manner.

In a paper to be presented at SAE COMVEC 2016, DISTek Integration, Inc. looks at addressing ONB vulnerability by using a requirements modeling technique known as Causal Component Model (CCM). You are welcome to attend the presentation or access the paper being……..
